GRIEF & LOSS
Grief is undeniably a part of life that we all experience at some point in our lives. Grief can simply be explained as a reaction to some form of loss. Losing our loved ones, our pets , ending of a marriage, estrangement with a family member, or any other kind of significant loss can leave us feeling a wide range of emotions from feeling too much anger, sadness and sometimes feeling nothing at all. Trying to adjust to daily life after a significant loss can be a prolonged process. Coming to terms with the new reality depends greatly on our individual's history, relationship and baggage to the person we lose.
When to seek professional help?
Grief is not just feeling sadness and depression, it can take the form: such as anger, guilt, regret or even mourn loss of a loved one who have passed away and at the same time feel relief after years of fighting cancer. Often times it can present itself in different forms such as physical pain or extreme emotions or feelings of emptiness, behavioral changes in our-self and relationships with our family and friends. Each person reacts differently to loss. If you are feeling overwhelmed and feel like you have been struggling to get back on our feet for a period of time but you still find it difficult. That may be a sign that we need some professional help to move on.
